What is a Laser Diode?

Laser is a combination of the initials of the five English words Light Amplification by Stimulated Emission of Radiation, literally translated as "light amplification by stimulated emission of radiation". Laser Diode (LD for short) is a laser generator whose working material is a semiconductor and belongs to a solid-state laser generator.

One of the characteristics of a laser diode is that it can directly modulate the intensity of its output light from the current.

The light generated by the injected current travels back and forth between the two mirrors, and can induce particles through the medium many times, so that the energy is repeatedly enhanced to form continuous oscillations.

The difference between LD and LED

Laser is a kind of light that is amplified by optical vibration. All the photons it outputs have the same phase, direction and amplitude, so it has the characteristics of high intensity, directionality, single light and coherence.
